Know all men by these presents that we Francis McGuire and George Barns (should be “Barnes”) of the County of Bourbon are held and firmly bound unto his excellency Beverly Randolph governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia in the penal sum of Fifty pounds current money to which payment well and truly to be made and done to the said Beverly Randolph Esq. or his successors, we bind ourselves, our and each of our heirs executors and administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and dated this 10 day of October 1789.[seal] [seal]
The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas I John Edwards Clerk of Bourbon County Court have this day issued a license for the marriage of the above bound Francis McGuire and Elizabeth Barns (should be “Barnes”) she being of age.
Now if there is no lawful cause to obstruct said marriage and no damage accrues by means of said license being issued then the above obligation to (illegible, possibly “be”) void else to be and remain in full force and virtue.
