SHERMAN – David Thompson Sherman of Butler, Ill., died at his home the re on Tuesday morning, May 12th, aged 88 years, 11 months and 12 days . The deceased was born in Whitingham, Vermont, May 29th, 1824, and ca me to Illinois in 1853. He was married in 1846 to Miss Amyra Goodell a nd four children were born to this union, two sons and two daughters , only one child of this union, Mrs. Mary Payne, of Peoria, Ill, survi ves the deceased. He was married again in 1868 at Chenoa, Ill., to Mrs . Mary Wheelock of Gilsun, New Hampshire. Two children were born to th is union, namely W. B. SHERMAN of Fargo, N. D. and Mrs. Etta Smith o f Indianapolis, Ind. Mr. Sherman was the last of a family of ten ch ildren of John Sherman, who at one time lived on the farm now owned b y the heirs of Seth Sherman, in Springfield township, and who died i n 1856 at the home of his youngest daughter, Mrs. H. G. Chace.
