----Death: is from his obituary in the Lebanon Express and located o n the front
page Oct. 12, 1951. A small notice was found on Oct. 16, 1951 p.2.
In part, it reads Karl McCown, 54, senior partner in the Coast to Coas t store
here with his son Tom, died at the Lebanon hospital a few minutes befo re
midnight Monday. He had recently undergone surgery and improved enoug h to go
home that day. He was returned to the hospital in the evening when hi s
condition became worse. He founded McCown Ice Cream store in 1947 alo ng with
his son. They sold the business last fall and this spring opened th e Coast to
Coast store they now operate. Funeral services are pending arrival o f a
sister, Mrs. M. D. Barraick from Schofield Barracks, Honolulu, T.H. Ot her
members of his family include his wife, Chloie; son, Tom; daughter, Mr s. Karla
Conner, Lebanon; brother, Harry McCown, Tillamook, siter, Mrs. A. W.
Majosowick, Timber Lake, S.D. and five grand-children.
