Mrs. Caroline Laura Haxton Leonard- (1909) Passed away at the home o f her daughter, Mrs. N. H. Sherman in Troy Township, Wednesday morning , April 28th at 12:30. The funeral was held from the home Friday morni ng at 11 o’clock; burial in Leona Cemetery by the side of her husban d and daughter. Mrs. Leonard was born in Granville Township on April 8 , 1826, the oldest daughter of Hosea and Emily Haxton. Her mother die d when she was eight, when she went to live with Avery Brown in Spring field Township until she was married to Almon W Leonard, on October 20 , 1850. Her husband died June 10, 1900. There were born to them five c hildren, the oldest of whom died in infancy; Rose, wife of N H Sherman , Somner, Elmetta E, wife of T. H. Mattocks, who died in November, 188 4, and Clarendon E. Leonard of Troy. Since the death of her husband sh e had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Sherman. She suffered a st roke of paralysis a year ago last October and had been confined to he r bed and chair ever since. On the 22nd of April she suffered a fourt h stroke and did not again become conscious. She was a Christian and d evoted mother. She was a member of the Leona Methodist Church. She i s survived by ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
